PARENT INPUT NEEDED - DRESS CODE & BELL SCHEDULE
Hello Miner families!
This school year, Clovis Unified is conducting a Dress Code Review and a Bell Schedule Review, and we need parent input about these two important items. Every school will be holding site meetings for parents, staff and students to learn more and offer comments. Copper Hills' meeting will be combined with the Clovis North Area schools, on October 5th, 2021 at 1:00pm in the Clovis North Library Lecture Hall. Feedback gathered at these meetings will be processed in the fall, and recommendations will be made for any updates or changes later this year. Families and staff will again have the opportunity for input before final recommendations are made to the CUSD Governing Board. The Board is anticipated to act in January 2022 to adopt any changes. Dress Code -- In May, students with the district's InterSchool Council asked for a review of the CUSD Dress Code, especially in terms of leggings and enforcement. Your input is needed regarding your feelings on what should not be changed in the current dress code and what specific dress code regulations needs to be reconsidered. The Governing Board and administration made plans to conduct a thorough review to be held this school year.
Bell Schedule -- Approved State of California Senate Bill 328, is a law regarding later start times for middle and high schools that will take effect in the fall of 2022. Middle and high schools will not be allowed to start before 8:00 or 8:30am, which impacts the start time of elementary schools. Clovis Unified will need to make changes to the start and end times at nearly all school sites to meet the operational supports and requirements to comply with this law. Due to the passage of SB 328 and the impact it has on shared district operations such as, transportation, food services, campus club…., elementary schools will have to change the start and end time to one of the following: start 7:45am – end 2:25pm or start 9:05am – end 3:55pm. Your input is needed to make the best start and end time for our students and their families.
