Dear GATE Parents: I am delighted to be a part of the GATE program on the Copper Hills Elementary campus this year. Some of you may already know who I am as I used to teach grades 2, 3, and 4 on the Copper Hills campus. I now serve as the Instructional Technology Coach for the five Clovis North Area elementary schools.
Attached, you will find the calendar for our sessions this year. Our focus will be 3D printing. I am only on the Copper Hills campus one day per week. And there are calendar details that pull me away sometimes where I may be off campus for the entire week. I mention this because not all projects will get printed in a timely fashion. Sometimes prints fail. So, please be patient if your child’s print does not come home quickly. Please be patient. One printer. Two hours for each print. And, several projects to manage.
We will learn about bed adhesion, extruder, temperature, overhang, design modeling, software, and the engineering design process with our MakerBot Replicator +. Copper Hills received a $2,000 grant from the Toshiba Foundation for America, so we have plenty of filament this school year.
If your child will be absent, please email me. It is essential that I know who should be under my care that day or not. And, add yourself to our Remind so you can receive timely messages. Send @cgate19 to 81010. Plug the attached dates into your calendar, please. Be sure to collect your child on time after each session. I have another calendar detail that starts at 3:00 each Wednesday.
Thank you so much!
Sincerely, Melissa Culver
